WHAT EXACTLY IS A NUTRITIONAL PRACTITIONER ?


Nutritional Practitioners takes a system–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease that views the human body in its entirety, instead of solely looking at its parts. It respects the importance of bio-individuality and takes a preventative approach to health. Functional medicine searches for the root cause of symptoms, instead of simply masking symptoms and putting on a band-aid. That’s right, it’s time to say good-bye to the overused prescription pad and dig deeper!


As an example, this graphic below illustrates how a single diagnosis can be the result of more than one cause. Each symptom or differential diagnosis may be one of many contributing to an individual’s illness. Leaky gut is NOT a diagnosis, it is a result of one or more imbalances that happen over time, leading to intestinal permeability caused by many different factors, including inflammation.

The precise manifestation of each cause depends on the individual’s genes, environment, diet, stress, and lifestyle–and only treatments that address the right cause will have lasting benefit beyond symptom suppression. Alternatively, it uses food, natural supplements, and lifestyle changes to promote health and wellness throughout the body. I like to combine science and intuition to provide a comprehensive approach to prevention and over coming dis-ease.



The Way I think of it...

If you were in a sinking boat, would your primary focus be to splash water out of the boat? Or do you think it would be more productive to find the leak and fix it as quickly as possible? That’s right, finding the source of the leak is your best bet for survival.


Unfortunately, this sinking boat is an all-too-accurate depiction of how the medical world views our health. We experience symptom after symptom and visit doctor after doctor, only to find ourselves feeling worse.

We’re frantically trying to bail water out of the boat before it’s eventually fully submerged! As a result, we can address the cause of your illness and heal the body from the inside out. It sounds so simple, doesn’t it? Well, it is!
